a few months after watching Gundam 00, i still have the habit of starting my on the go playlist with "Trust You". and thinking back, it's one of the best anime songs out there that fits so well with the flow and atmosphere of the show. then i thought, wad abt Gundam Seed? cos i was actually more impressed by the plot in Seed.
well, i realise there were actually more great songs in Seed, maybe cos of the overall longer length of the whole series. wheel of destiny, invoke, reason; all were really good :) if i would rate trust you a 95, maybe i would rate "Find the Way" a 98 or even a 100.
trust you was a weird one at first. normally u wouldnt expect a such a lively and rhythmic intro of a song as a ending theme right after some dramatic event or mature theme was sent across during the actual episode. but after 2-3 episodes' endings, i realise i do get the usual numbed feeling of being touched and impacted while the anime transits into the ending theme. and i actually sat thru many of the endings listening to the whole ending and sometimes even singing along, amazed by how well the atmosphere was created and the drama only did amplify itself thru the song. it's a delicate effect but indeed makes it of the best anime songs written, or rather, tailored, for Gundam 00.
find the way was the more expected kind of song u would expect for the heavy plot that Seed delivered, especially for the last couple of episodes. but it was so amazing that most of the time i simply got teleported into the plot. especially during the last scene where Kira was floating outside his gundam in space staring into space after the battle was over, and the prelude started playing.. i felt as if i was the one there shagged out mentally and physically, while thinking about all the stuff regarding humanity, freedom and the search for everyone's individual purposes in life.
for me, wad made me so captivated by these songs, especially while watching the whole anime series was actl 2 points.
1) the prelude
2) the singer's voice
the songs always starts playing after some impt part of the plot, so the prelude is extremely impt (eg, preludes of ending themes cos endings of every episodes are always impt parts or chokepoints in the plot) whether the atmosphere is amplified or dissolved right away into nothingness really depends on the whole prelude. the singer's voice as the verse starts is also equally important. (eg, May'n's really distinct and attractive voice in Diamond Crevasse of Macross Frontier really caught my attention and made me really excited about the whole anime) if find the way's prelude was followed by the voice of a chirpy young girl then i think Seed would really fail :P
:) wad a nice flow of thoughts to have on my 15 min back home from work! still one the lookout for more life-changing songs like these. yea, and i really loved the ending theme of ef-a tale of memories as well.
